Social Worker


The goal of school social work services is to assist the student, who receives Special Education Services, in reaching his/her fullest academic and personal potential within the school environment.

School social workers serve as a member of an educational team to address situations and conditions that interfere with the student's learning process.  School social work interventions are tailored to meet the needs of the individual student and family. 

Interventions may include some of the following:

Screening students to identify need for services; develop goals & objectives.

Brief, solution focused individual and group counseling

Conflict mediation and resolution without violence

Advocacy for the student, family and school

Individual, school and community crisis intervention and prevention services

Behavior intervention and management services

Family assistance: strengthening home/school communication, parenting and behavior management strategies

Collaboration with community based service agencies to meet student/family needs in a holistic, comprehensive fashion
